A Big Thank You

A New Zealand couple who recently gave up their ‘summer’ home in Nanoose Bay have found a way to give back to their adopted community in a big way.  Just before Christmas, NCS received our largest single donation to date from the couple.

Gisela and Alfred sold their home in Fairwinds after 23 years of spending summers in the community.  They have returned to New Zealand to live permanently in their main residence.

“We left the community with the best of memories”, they wrote in a letter to the Nanoose Community Services. “The post office, supermarket, Credit Union, Perks café, Fairwinds restaurant and the old pub and little café at Schooner Cove…everywhere we went we received friendly service”.

They said they are grateful to the many people who provided them with services and help here over the years and their “wonderful neighbours”.

“Life could not have been better”, they added, enclosing a substantial cheque to the NCS…”for your Elf program to lighten up Christmas a bit for the people in the Nanoose community who are not so fortunate”.

“Goodbye and thank you to everyone”, they concluded.
