Sunday@4 2017-18

Sunday@4 & Sponsor Logos

Following three successful seasons, the Sunday@4 discussion series will return on October 29th with a wide range of topics chosen by a committee of thirteen volunteers from throughout the community.

The brain child of Jay Spence to provide a series for the whole Nanoose community, co-sponsors are Nanoose Community Services, Fairwinds Community Association, and Fairwinds.

The program has evolved over the years from a focus on the single topic of art to alternating topics such as music, geology and politics.   Sessions are held in the Arbutus Room of Fairwinds Golf Club and, for those who wish (and book ahead) are followed by a reasonably priced buffet dinner.

This year the sessions will include a variety of video, audio, and individual resources to present each topic. Topics include:

  • The Future of Work
  • Nuclear: yesterday’s technology or hope for the future?
  • The Perils & Politics of Publishing
  • Energy for Society
  • Marijuana: good or bad?
  • Mining and Society – a Future in Balance
  • The Sea Around Us
  • Our Forest Sector – impacting our planet and our daily lives

Two special sessions will be held – the last December presentation by Jordan Ozero on the Camino de Santiago and the season wrap-up will be a presentation by an eminent sommelier, wine tasting and discussion.

Mark your calendars for 4 pm on the following dates, and the full schedule will be announced shortly:

  • October 29
  • November 5 & 19
  • December 3 & 17
  • January 14 & 28
