Garden Inauguration

Garden Inauguration

The beautiful fall weather we had for the inauguration of the Canada150 Community Garden on Thursday October 26th must be a good omen for an excellent harvest for the 2018 growing season.

Nanoose Community Services board members gathered around the garden that has been lovingly weeded and enlarged with the help of community volunteers – ready for next year.

Helping celebrate were the grade 6 and 7 classes from Nanoose Bay Elementary who grew early season veggies in some of the plots this year and will be planting with the help of volunteers and teachers in the Spring of 2018.

This initiative is made possible by the Community Fund for Canada’s 150th, a collaboration between the Parksville Qualicum Community Foundation, the Government of Canada, and extraordinary leaders from coast to coast to coast and SD69.

2018 UPDATE:  Volunteers will be meeting at the Rusted Rake on Monday March 12th at 9:30 AM.  All welcome – new, experienced, young or old!
