When Oceanside women decide to make a difference, they do so in a big way. Over the past year, $66,000 has been donated to four charities in the region.
Started in January 2017, 100+ Women Who Care Oceanside has donated to Haven Society, Oceanside Stroke Recovery Society, Manna Homeless Society and, most recently, a total of $19,000 was donated to Nanoose Community Services.
Based on the principle that together we can do more, each woman who joins the group pledges to pay $100 each to the local charity that has been chosen by members in attendance at each quarterly meeting. Nanoose Community Services was awarded their support at the January 3, 2018 meeting.
The funds from 100+ Women Who Care Oceanside will allow NCS to address their increasing needs in 2018. The amount of food support per household has recently been increased to keep it in line with other food banks in the region (still merely enough for one week per month) and the number of households has increased substantially over the past few years.
Thank you to the wonderful women of Oceanside who made this possible for our neighbours in Nanoose Bay.
