An increase in client base, as well as skyrocketing food costs, have proved a challenge for your local charity. The NCS budget for food cards has doubled over the past three years. In order to cover our costs and ensure that we are able to continue assisting those in need, we are instituting new ways for you to help your neighbours.
All donations are enabled by our giving partner, CanadaHelps.org.
Monthly Giving
An easy way to budget while maximizing your tax benefits. The amount you designate is automatically withdrawn from your credit card or PayPal each month and you receive a year-end tax receipt from CanadaHelps.
This type of giving offers sustainable funding to enable NCS to help your neighbours on an ongoing basis.
One Time Gift
Choose the amount you would like to give and complete the information on the CanadaHelps form. You will receive an immediate tax receipt.
If you would like to make your donation a tribute or an honorary gift in someone’s name – you can select that on the online form and a postcard will be sent to the family or individual.
Securities
By donating publicly traded securities (stocks, mutual funds, segregated funds, bonds, etc.) you can give now or as part of your estate and will planning.
The Canada Revenue Agency does not apply capital gains tax on donations of publicly traded securities.
When you sell your shares for cash, you’re responsible for the tax due on the gain, even if you plan to donate the proceeds from the sale. But when you donate your securities directly through CanadaHelps, those capital gains aren’t subject to tax.

Legacy Gift
With a gift to NCS in your will, your legacy will live long after you.
Hold a Fundraiser
Whether it’s a child’s birthday party, a dinner for 10, or a book launch, consider using an event to raise some funds to help your neighbours. Send us your idea by filling out the form on this page.
