Nanoose Bay lost a very special person on August 28th after a two-year struggle with lung cancer. Friends of Liz Spence have described her as “memorable”, “gracious” and “classy”. All those who knew her would agree with one of her friends who said that “meeting Liz was like having a ray of sunshine entering your life”. And that sunshine extended not only to her friends, but also to her less fortunate neighbours in Nanoose and beyond.
Liz was instrumental in achieving charitable status for Nanoose Community Services (NCS) in February 2011 and was its Treasurer for the next five years. She also volunteered for Haven House, helping to support women and families fleeing domestic abuse.
The NCS board and volunteers wish to extend their deepest sympathy and condolences to Jay and all of their family.
Upon hearing of her passing, some community members have donated to NCS in Liz’s memory. If you wish to do so, please click here. If you would like to share a memory of Liz, please go to this Tribute page.
So sad to lose Liz, but appreciate all the work she & Jay have done for the community.
