Did you know that a research facility in Victoria in the early 1900s laid the foundation for a century of Canadian excellence in astrophysical research? Join Dennis Crabtree, the Acting Directory of the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory (DAO) in Saanich, while he describes the history of this facility, the exciting research currently being carried out by Canadian astronomers, and some future observatories which will build upon the legacy of the DAO.
Dennis received his PhD in astronomy from the University of Toronto and has been on the staff of the DAO since 1986. He has worked at the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope, the Gemini Observatory (based in Chile) and the Space Telescope Science Institute.
