Brian Peckford was born in Newfoundland and is a graduate of Memorial University.
After holding several cabinet positions in the Government of Newfoundland & Labrador, he was elected as leader of the Progressive Conservative Party and Premier at the age of 36. During his term, his government negotiated the Atlantic Accord which brought significant offshore oil & gas activities and royalties, leading Newfoundland to become a “have” province.
Following many years of service in the Nfld. provincial government, Brian, his wife Carol and son, Justin moved to Qualicum Beach. He presently resides in Parksville.
Noting that his presentation will be after the October federal election, Brian will offer his perspective on the state of politics in Canada (and the world) and how this might evolve in the future.
