Community Steps Up to Support Those in Need

The Board of Directors of Nanoose Community Services is grateful to the community for stepping up to help out during this period of pandemic. To date close to 100 people and organizations have donated to the NCS this year.  Some kind hearted pet lovers have also tagged their donations to go to the NCS pet fund, for distribution to those NCS clients who have pets and are in need of assistance in keeping their furry companions well fed and happy.

Karen Kenyon Personal Real Estate Corporation has donated $1,000.  Karen’s ongoing support to our community is recognized and appreciated by residents.

Another local resident has made a $10,000 donation to the NCS. He challenges other charity foundations and companies to match his donation.

“We will see who comes forward”, said fundraising director, Keith Thompson.  This neighbour is a great example of how much our community cares and supports what we do”.

Through the sale of face masks, local resident Frances Soliors has raised $1,300 in support of our community food program.  She has also provided masks to NCS volunteers for use during meetings with clients.

Nanoose Quilters also donated masks to be distributed to our clients.

The Parksville Qualicum Community Foundation (PQCF) in partnership and with the support of the Vancouver Foundation, Community Foundations of Canada, the Nanaimo Foundation and CHEK TV has also provided support to our local food program, in the wake of the COVID 19 pandemic.

In making the donation the PQCF stated, “the work done by your group in the community is invaluable to the preservation and development of healthy and inclusive support programs.”
