The Results are in – Fill the Boots for Food – 2022

What an incredible way to wrap up our fundraising events for 2022 by raising over $3,000 at Fill the Boots for Food – 2022 – almost ⅓ more than our event in 2021!

Eleven Nanoose Community Services Volunteers joined six members of the Nanoose Bay Volunteer Department to host our annual “Fill the Boots for Food” event on Saturday, November 19th, 2022. The weather was fabulous, sunny and cool and we were grateful we didn’t have a repeat of the atmospheric river event this year. A special shoutout to One Cool Cookie and Nanoose Medicine Centre Pharmacy who kept our volunteers warm with their coffee/tea and treats.

We were stationed at two locations “Red Gap” and “Springford Farm” and had a healthy competition between the two locations to see who could “fill more boots”. It was a close race and it appeared that the Springford Farm team was in the lead. However, in the very last hour it was team “Red Gap” who took the lead when a very generous local business dropped a cheque in the boot with a $500.00 donation.

Team “Red Gap” took home the coveted trophy “The Golden Apple”, which is now at its new temporary home at the Firehall.

What an amazing show of support for our community and showing once again what it means by Neighbours helping neighbours.

Missed donating at this event, we still have our Elf Program that is running until mid December and as always you can donate online or by going to our website.
