
Cheryl Deckert
SECRETARY
Cheryl and her husband Allen moved to Nanoose Bay from Alberta in August 2016. A retired Registered Nurse, her 39 year career in Alberta included frontline surgical and emergency nursing, prenatal instruction, emergency department management and hospital administration.
She has previous board experience, including two terms as a Provincial Councillor for the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta, seven years as a member of the Wetaskiwin Health Foundation and four years as Board Chair of First United Church Wetaskiwin. Cheryl was Volunteer Coordinator of NCS for three years prior to moving to the position of Secretary.
Cheryl is a happy grandmother to five grandchildren in Alberta and enjoys music,gardening,kayaking,hiking,golf and skiing. As a pianist she has played for multiple community theatre productions, accompanied several community and church choirs as well as accompanied hundreds of vocal, musical theatre and instrumental students competing in local and provincial music festivals. Most recently, she has enjoyed studying and playing piano duets for pure enjoyment with another pianist who recently relocated to Nanoose Bay.
