Join Laura Beck, from the Errington Therapeutic Riding Association (ETRA) and Barb Ashmead and Brian Cameron (with his service dog, Trooper), from Vancouver Island Compassion Dogs, to learn how they work with animals to assist humans in various their physical and mental disabilities.
The ETRA programs improve the physical and mental well-being of riders with a wide range of disabilities. Supported by a professional certified instructor and many volunteers, their riding classes provide an opportunity for invigorating exercise and recreation, and gives the riders a sense of achievement and self-worth.
Vancouver Island Compassion Dogs Society is dedicated to “Serving those who Served”. Their service dog training program provides military veterans and RCMP with PTSD with renewed purpose, confidence and unconditional support. Barb Ashmead , Co-Founder, and Brian Cameron, accompanied by his service dog Trooper, will talk about the program and how it helps former service individuals with PTSD reintegrate back into the civilian world with the aid of a service dog.
