Sunday@4: Perspectives On A Planet

December 9, 2018 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

THERE ARE NO MORE SEATS AVAILABLE FOR THIS PRESENTATION

Our Earth is only one of a family of planets circling the sun, and scientists have found roughly 3000 planets orbiting other stars.  It appears that all stars in our galaxy posses planets, which means there are trillions of them out there. But while all these other planets are interesting, none of them is like Earth.

This colourfully illustrated presentation will journey out to other worlds to see how they compare, then come back to our home world to see how unique and precious it it…the onle one we know of so far, where humans can live.

Our speaker, Canada’s premier science journalist, Bob McDonald, is the host of the award-winning CBC radio show Quirks & Quarks.  He was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2011, holds 12 honorary degrees, and has the distinction of having an asteroid named after him.

NB:  The popularity of the speaker & topic necessitates registration for this event only.  Please CLICK HERE to reserve your seats for the presentation

All except the last (wine/food pairing in March) are free, Angeline. The optional buffet dinner afterwards has a cost (and must be reserved in advance), but the discussion is gratis. Hope you can join us.
